Silicones, Inc. is constantly developing products for new applications, improving our existing products and researching new technologies that might be useful for silicones. The nomenclature we use is XT for experimental tin catalyzed products and XP for experimental platinum catalyzed products.

Some of the experimental products become standard grades, e.g., GI-245, GI-298 and GI-384 all began as experimental products that were developed for a specific application. Some recent product developments are shown below:

P-656 is a line of soft, 1:1, platinum catalyzed, translucent silicones designed to be used in special effects or in glove molding. The same base, P-656 B, can be used in conjunction with different catalysts to achieve different hardnesses. Also, you can introduce additives to decrease hardness and/or create tactile adhesion.
