Silicones, Inc. is constantly developing products for new applications, improving our existing products and researching new technologies that might be useful for silicones. The nomenclature we use is XT for experimental tin catalyzed products and XP for experimental platinum catalyzed products.
Some of the experimental products become standard grades, e.g., GI-245, GI-298 and GI-384 all began as experimental products that were developed for a specific application. Some recent product developments are shown below: |

– Optically clear, fast-curing, 10:1 mix ratio for electrical potting and encapsulating.
– High durometer foam used in aerospace applications.

– P-50 Base with 4 hour working time.
– Softer (Shore A 26) version of P-90 translucent.
– Slower curing version of P-4.
– Highly filled, thermally conductive, low viscosity, 1:1 mix ratio.
– Lower durometer (35) version of P-44.
– Optically clear silicone gel, 1:1 mix ratio, used in Special Effects.
– Clearer version of XP-344.
– Lower viscosity version of P-60.
– Thixotropic version of XP-429.
Very dry version of P-90. Sensitive mixing ratio.
Optically clear. Available in Shore A 20 or 30. Strong for an unfilled system.
Harder version of P-44, Shore A 50.
"Simulate", Thixotropic, fast curing, 10 minutes working time, demoldable in 30 minutes.
"Quick Sil", Soft system for FX appliances; 3 minute working time, demoldable in 5 minutes.
No bleed softening agent for P-series rubbers. |

– Very soft, high elongation rubber used for Special Effects.
– Fast setting glue used to repair seams of silicone skins.
– Silicone grease.
– Base for silicone plastination.
– Low viscosity Base for silicone plastination.
– Faster curing version of GI-179 Activator.
– Longer mold life version of GI-1115.
– Special Activator – faster curing, less shrinkage.
– GI-311 that can be cured rapidly with the addition of 1% stannous octoate.
– Low durometer (Shore A 12), low viscosity, improved mold life.
– Faster curing version of GI-298.
– Higher specific gravity (1.30) version of GI-650.
– Low durometer (Shore A 10), low viscosity (15,000 cstk), medium Specific Gravity (1.20), excellent mold life.
– Medium durometer (Shore A 15), low viscosity (20,000 cstk) very dry silicone rubber.
– Volatile silicone solvent.
– Thixotropic version of GI-1000 Base.
– Ultra low temperature (-170°F) version of XT-386. Cured with dibutyltindilaurate.
– Thixotropic version of XT-500.
Low shrinkage, very dry, low modulus, high elongation (3% Activator).
Shore A 7, 6 hour cure, low shrinkage, excellent library life.
Shore A 28, 6 hour cure, low shrinkage, excellent library life.
Fast curing, very low shrinkage, 1 hour working time, 8 hour cure time, Shore A 38
Translucent, Shore A 30 version of XT-551.
Translucent, Shore A 10 version of XT-551.
